Cloudspeaker by HOYTALER.

HOYTALER is the brand. Cloudspeaker is its first range of hackable, flat-pack speakers for self-assembly. You do not always want music: live natural soundscapes bring the outside world inside.

A surface for sound.

No cone on the front. Two exciters drive a thin birch panel from behind, supported on a decoupled, off-centre mount. The grain, the outline and the small circular foot give the speaker its presence in a room.

Just 3 mm.

From the front, a broad surface of birch. From the side, a wide-open room: the panel reads as a fine line, and the exciters behind it stay nearly invisible. The sound-producing panel is only 3 mm thick, with its exciters and decoupled mounting behind it.

The other half of the object.

The Cloudspeaker app is the local control interface. Listening level, saved profiles and ten-band EQ sit together, with quiet-listening bass lift and protection that responds to bass energy. The Flat profile clears tonal adjustments while retaining dynamic protection.

One room. Or rooms together.

Listen independently or join a Snapcast system. Each unit can be configured in stereo, left or right for the arrangement. Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Snapcast share the same tuning controls. Advanced settings stay within reach without taking over everyday listening.

The multi-speaker interface brings discovered units into a row of selectors. A matching illustration numbers each speaker and shows its channel assignment. Selecting a unit opens its own controls. A quiet note identifies an external server when one is connected.

Ways to make it yours.

Optional printed overlays and laser-cut artwork attach to the birch front. The draft Kickstarter stretch goals are an included wall bracket at DKK 300,000 and a brass pole and heavy foot at DKK 500,000. The campaign is not live.

The revised stand threads the pole directly into the rear edge of a circular foot, with a small cable-entry window. A slim M5 pole-clamp wall bracket targets 10 cm from wall to panel front. Supplier quotations and prototype testing come next.

A hidden capacitive volume strip behind the wood is also being explored; it is not yet a confirmed campaign feature.
